Hey Team.
There is no denying that “Build Your List.. Make a Fortune” for the most part is true. It is for the most part if you know how to keep your list engaged. Here are my best secrets for keeping your list engaged and making them your very best loyal fans 🙂
Stay Consistent
I often get the question, how often should I mail my list? The key is consistency, but I have found that an “email a day, keep the dept collectors away”.
Emailing one time a day may seem like a lot, but I have tried 3x a week, 2x a week, and our sales are best when I keep people engaged daily. The reason consistency is important is because humans are creatures of habit. If you email sporadically, your fans will not know when to “expect” your email. When they can not predict when your email will come, they will lose interest.
Try not to use more than 10 words per line
Depending on your font size and type you generally do not want to go more than 10 words per line. I explain this quite well in the video above. You want to write your emails like a news paper column. It makes them much easier to scan and speed read.
Use FEAR, TRUST and GAIN as your triggers to get people to take action!
Did you know that people are more motivated to take action because of the fear of loss more so than personal gain? Health is a perfect example, usually most people will NOT do a thing about their health until that first heart attack or stroke. Then, and only then do they change their lifestyle based on the fear of losing ones life!! When you use the fear of loss in your messages, people will take strong action!
When writing your emails try to get people to say “yes” in their minds. Ask them questions you know they will say yes to. The more they agree with your statements, the more they will trust you. The more they trust, the more likely they will take the desired action you want them to take.
Curiosity will also get people to take action on opening your emails and also visiting your website. However, I need to caution you that do not sideline people with curiosity.
As an example, I see a lot of marketers use the subject line “Your paypal transaction”. Then the body of the email goes something like. Hey how would you like to get unlimited payments through paypal today? When you sue curiosity, but then sideline them into something else you will get alot of opens, but at the same time a lot of unsubscribes and hate mail.
As always if you have any questions please post them here on the blog. I love and value your feedback and I am always listening 🙂
