Some bad news but we are taking action

Hi Everyone,

First on the video there is a big band aid over my eye… that is from sinus surgery yesterday (just FYI as it looks bad on video)

I need you to read this blog entirely. We got a call from GTT the broker of ATT fibre optics advising us literally “out of the blue” that they were going to shut down the fibre optics to our data center for excessive spam complaints out of our data center

WOW… considering there are hundreds of thousands of domains here our complaint volume has always been way below 1%. Anyway they wanted to shut us down in three days YIKES. Based on the terms and conditions of ATT they reserve the right to do that.

Anyway, we were able to negotiate until March 18th provided no other complaints come in so we have been forced to suspend our mail services until we move our whole data center over to Time Warner Fibre. We have a much better relationship with Time Warner..

Here is what is odd, it is not like we do not take immediate action when a complaint comes in for spam. We terminate those accounts right away and yet ATT is cutting our line WOW again.

So we are bringing in some extra help to get the move done, and we will get it done in that time frame. I will keep you posted as we get more information. Below is one of the emails I got from GTT the ATT broker

I’m afraid AT&T are advising they will shut the service down in its entirety should they receive 3 more abuse complaints.

I requested a period of grace up to Friday 18th March for yourselves to make alternative arrangements however they refused.

Below is a summary of the Abuse statistics which I hope will help:

Total Warnings: 543

Recent warning count: 4 (Past 7 days)

Historical count: 539 (Warnings prior to the past 7 days) First warning: 2008-11-24 09:49:56 Most recent warning: 2011-02-16 04:51:22 Distinct IPs: 141

My only other suggestion, however I now feel it may be too late, is to restore sole connectivity of the Cisco CPE to GTT.

GTT would then have to provide evidence to ATT that we have blocked the offending IP and/or ports should further complaints be received.

Alternatively if GVO can provide me with an exact eta of when they will be ready to migrate from this service I will try and request a grace period once more. However please bear in mind that they have already refused Friday 18th March.

Regards

Andrew
